L-3 Marine Systems International to Exhibit at Shipbuilding Machinery and Marine 2014

HAMBURG, Germany, July 11, 2014 – L-3 Marine Systems International’s (L-3 MSI) core businesses will showcase comprehensive offerings of new-generation systems for ship-specific operations, including automation, communications, navigation, dynamic positioning, propulsion, energy generation and distribution, as well as entertainment systems, at the L-3 exhibit, Hall B6, Stand 310, during the Shipbuilding Machinery and Marine (SMM) exhibition in Hamburg, Germany, September 9–12.

L-3 highlights will include live demonstrations of the advanced NACOS Platinum series, complemented by a bridge simulator with three large screens for navigation. Also featured as an integral part of the demonstrations will be an L-3 Valmarine multifunctional VALMATIC Platinum automation assembly and an integrated DP Platinum system developed by L-3 Dynamic Positioning & Control Systems. These systems provide fully integrated functionality for vessels of all types and sizes and support shore-based fleet control operations and remote maintenance.

Other key technologies to be featured at SMM 2014 include:

• L-3 SAM Electronics’ established energy and drive capabilities, including advanced shaft alternator technology and diesel-electric propulsion assemblies with power ratings extending up to 28 MW

• Examples of SAM’s latest instrumentation for dredgers and the SAMCon series of alternative shore-based power connection facilities for improving air quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions of container vessels berthed at terminals (An outside display located at B6 FG 002 will feature live demonstrations of SAMCon)

• L-3 SAM’s turnkey solutions and special systems for megayachts, the offshore shipping industry and the wind energy marketplace, spanning heavy lift jack-up vessels, platforms for HVAC and HVDC technology and accommodation, as well as wind power plants

• L-3 JOVYATLAS’s UPS systems, smart sensor measurement equipment from L-3 APSS, Italy, and L-3 FUNA’s innovative and immersive holographic video technology, which presents products or artifacts in combination with free-floating holographic video elements

In addition, L-3’s new innovative web-based Open Ticket Request System (OTRS) for managing service requests will be demonstrated. The system creates a fully transparent, well-coordinated and interpersonal workplace and includes a database with the complete service history of a vessel. L-3 MSI will also present customer training options, focusing on ECDIS, for system users and field engineers worldwide, as well as fully accredited induction and advanced dynamic positioning operator training available in key locations.
