SAM Electronics at Asia Pacific Maritime

Hamburg, 8 February, 2008: SAM Electronics, an L-3
Communications company, will stage a major poster display of its
products designed for all types and sizes of vessel as well as the
offshore sector, on Stand No: G38, German Pavilion, Hall 3.

Items featured include the SAMCon environmental and economical
power supply system, the established NACOS series of integrated
navigation command units featuring radar-controlled trackpilots and
navaid sub-assemblies. Further, the new-generation automation
packages marketed with Danish subsidiary Lyngsø Marine as part of the
joint PartnerShip alliance will be featured.

On top of its considerable successes in commercial shipping, cruise
vessels and the military, SAM has secured a number of notable offshore
contracts.

Last year SAM Electronics Norge completed an order for five NACOS
55-5 integrated navigation command systems featuring radar-controlled
TRACKPILOT, ECDIS and other sensors, four of which were installed
aboard offshore supply vessels built for Volstad Shipping. Three of the
93m 5,100 dwt vessels were built by Aker Brattvaag, with Fosen Mek
Verksteder constructing the fourth. Meanwhile, a similar NACOS
configuration was commissioned for a 109m, 6, 200 dwt supply ship
from the Brattvag yard on behalf of Ostensjo Rederi in Haugesund,
which will be used for inspection, maintenance and repair tasks as well
as support of ROV operations.

Also last year, SAM received a turnkey order from the Lithuanian
shipyard PC Western Shipbuilding for the complete electrical and
electronics package for an 8,000-tonne special jack-up platform.
Approximately 100m long, 34m wide and capable of sustaining wind
strengths up to Force seven, the platform is to be used in the
construction of the “BARD Offshore 1” offshore wind park in the south
eastern North Sea.

Besides two RADARPILOT 1100 units for X and S band, a GPS/DGPS
system and a GMDSS radio station which includes INMARSAT C and F
terminals, SAM is supplying an MCS 2200 monitoring and control
system as well as a safety and security assembly, switchgears,
consoles, four generators each with 1,900 kVA output power, and all
cable installation as well as electric drives for propulsion of the platform,
each delivering 1,100 kW power to the four controllable pitch propellers.
